Weddings, Civil Ceremonies and Civil Partnerships
The Eugene Portman Trio can provide music for the ceremony, the drinks reception, the wedding breakfast and the evenings entertainment. Eugene can also play solo classical piano music for the ceremony for something more traditional.
Eugene Portman can provide the music for the ceremony as a duo, a trio or a full band. Eugene can of course play solo piano. Firstly, music is usually provided prior to the ceremony while the congregation are gathering in the ceremony room or church. The ceremony starts with the entrance of the bride, usually about 45 seconds long and a traditionally choice for this is the Bridal Chorus by Wagner. Music can of course be provided throughout the ceremony, but the next part of the ceremony that requires music is the signing of the register and this usually lasts between 7-12 minutes. The final part of the ceremony that requires music is the recession the traditional choice being the Wedding March by Mendelssohn.
The Drinks Reception
Music for the drinks reception is usually of a lively nature and any line-up is suitable from a solo pianist to a full jazz band. In the summer months we are often called upon to perform outside for the drinks reception. We are perfectly willing to do this, and can provide a gazebo to protect all our equipment from the elements free of charge.
The Wedding Breakfast
It is important that the music is not over powering during this part of the days proceedings. Solo piano, piano and vocals or piano and bass are all ideal for the wedding breakfast.
The Evening Reception
The evening reception is usually where lively music is appropriate. The Eugene Portman Trio musicians can play lively music for this part of the day, and provide a party atmosphere, but we do not play chart music and sound like a disco. However, we can put your music through our sound system via your laptop or iPod etc. for the last hour or two.
Eugene can also help with other aspects of your day by providing equipment to make it possible to play outside and away from the main electricity supply, providing a PA system and radio microphone for speeches, a PA system can also be used for transmitting your own music via i.e. an iPod or laptop.
A Digital Baby Grand Piano is also available. Please talk to Eugene about your requirements for your day and he will be happy to help where he can.
